You open a new chat. You explain your business. Again. Who you are, what you sell, who you sell it to. Tomorrow it's forgotten all of it and you start over.

Every new chat starts from zero. Your business, your voice, your rules. Gone. When your AI doesn't know you, it fills the gap with the average of everybody on the internet.
That's not your fault, and it's not the AI's fault either. Nobody ever told it who you are.
Most people think the answer is a better AI. They hop from ChatGPT to Claude to Gemini and back. Same empty setup, every time. Everybody has the same tools right now.
Hire the smartest person you've ever met. Now wipe their memory every night. Every morning they walk in willing and capable, with no idea who you are or what happened yesterday. You wouldn't blame them for doing generic work. You'd fix the setup.
Run a BEFORE test. Open whatever AI you use and ask it: "Write a short email to my customers about what I do." Save what it gives you in a note called BEFORE. Don't fix it. Once your AI actually knows you, run the same request and put the two side by side.
Make one folder on your computer called MY AI BRAIN. Whatever lives inside an AI app is just a copy. Apps change, accounts get closed, chats get deleted. Your folder stays.
A prompt is a work order. It does one job and dies. What's missing is the stuff that sits under every work order: who you are, how you talk, who you serve, what you sell, and what's already been decided.
Think about a job site. There are two kinds of paper. The plans, which don't change unless the customer changes something. And the daily log: what got done, what got decided, what went wrong. Your AI needs both. The free worksheet below is where to start.
I learned the trades hands-on and ran my own construction company in Colorado. So at 53, off YouTube videos, I taught myself AI. I wasn't a tech guy. You don't need to be one either. For months my AI didn't sound anything like me. I'd explain my business on Monday, and on Tuesday it had no idea who I was.

Why does ChatGPT keep forgetting my business?
Every new chat starts from zero. Unless your business is written down somewhere your AI reads first, it fills the gap with the average of everybody on the internet.
Will switching to Claude or Gemini fix it?
No. If you bring the same empty setup to every tool, you get the same generic result. The fix is what you feed it, not which one you use.
Isn't a good prompt enough?
A prompt is a one-time work order. It does one job and dies. What carries over is written files about who you are, how you talk, and what's already been decided.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. There's no code. It's files in a folder you own.
Is it safe to put my business info into AI?
You decide what goes in. Never store passwords, bank or card numbers, Social Security numbers, or anyone else's private information, and read your AI tool's privacy settings first.
